Is being pain free a distant memory? There are a number of reasons you may be experiencing back pain or neck pain. Whether you are recovering with sports injuries or simply are suffering with aches and pains - we can help! We understand it can be frustrating when you do not know the cause of the pain. It may also be the case that you are in significant pain but painkillers are not effective. You do not have to suffer in silence! But one of the most effective solutions to back pain is massage therapy and using soft tissue techniques as well as myofascial release, and remedial massage to target the source and provide a natural, powerful pain treatment.
Here are some of the most common causes for lower back pain alongside their symptoms, which can all be treated with us:
Sciatica - You may experience pain which radiates from the lower spine, deep in the buttocks, down the leg and into the foot. Some people also experience pain, numbness or tingling in the back of the leg and calf. Also, you may find difficulty in moving your leg/foot/toes or feel pain as you attempt to stand from a sitting position.
Piriformis Syndrome - The piriformis is a small muscle located in the buttocks. It runs from the thigh bone to the base of the spine. This muscle can irritate the sciatic nerve which can be very painful in one buttock or leg.
Gluteus Minimis Trigger Points - The gluteus minimis is the smallest of the three gluteal muscles. It is in the buttocks, outside the hip and underneath the glutes medius. If the trigger points are effected, you would experience pain or numbness in the buttocks, or radiating pain from the buttocks to the thigh, into the calf and the the knee, lower leg and ankle. You may also feel pain in your hip whilst walking or rising from a chair.
Quadratus Lumborum - This muscle is located either side of the lower back. It connects the top of the pelvis to the ribs and spine. If it spasms, you will experience pain radiating from the side of the back, along the hip and into the upper groin. You may also experience pain over the lower buttocks and sacroiliac joint, or pain down the thigh or hip joint.
We are able to effectively treat all of the above conditions using our soft tissue massage techniques which will ease nerve pressure and reduce muscular tension.
